Ancestral farm in the Isarco Valley - South Tyrol: family and history

Life on our Farm

Our organic farm is home to our dairy cows. Adjacent to the farm are vast meadows and the green forest. For those interested in learning more about farm life, a farm tour is possible by arrangement. If you have any questions, your hosts Andreas and Ruth are always available to you.

There's always something to do on our farm. Work is done with agricultural machinery and vehicles.
We ask our guests to keep this in mind when moving around the farm premises.

"The farm is our great love: we want to continue its history and pass it on successfully to the next generation."

The history of the farm …

The modern organic Lechnerhof farm has a long history, being one of the oldest farms in Valles. The Lechnerhof first appears in the records of the Neustift Monastery at the end of the 12th century. In the church registers, Lechnerhof has been owned by the same Mayr-Zingerle family from the beginning to the present day. Thus, Lechnerhof is a hereditary farm, meaning it has been in family possession for more than 200 years.

Hospitality & Diligence

In 1968, the centuries-old farmhouse was demolished and the current residential house was built. At the same time, the first vacation guests were welcomed. Until 2010, Lechnerhof mainly accommodated school classes on vacation and bus tour groups. In 2020, the house underwent reconstruction and complete renovation to become the holiday home it is today.

Significant changes have also been made to the economic buildings over the past decades: Before 1990, the barn and hayloft were attached to the residential house. In 1990, a new tethered barn and a new feed house were built next to the residential house, allowing the barn to meet the most modern requirements.

In the autumn of 2023, we began converting the tethered barn into a modern free-range barn. The completion of this project is expected in April 2024, and we are thrilled about it.

A Heart for the Well-being of Our Animals

Since 2023, we have also been a certified organic farm and a member of Bioland South Tyrol. We produce organic hay milk, which is delivered to the Bressanone Brimi dairy, and we are proud to welcome you for a vacation on the organic farm in South Tyrol from now on.

Our new barn, and this is very important to us, complies with the latest animal welfare guidelines and is truly a little jewel. From May to October, the barn doors are open, and the animals can graze day and night or make themselves comfortable in the barn. We do not feed silage but only hay and organic feed. We are also proud of our fully automatic Lely milking robot of the latest generation.
